Mineure mais importante aux yeux du Professore. Brion Gysin \u00e9tait un des artistes phares de la <em>Beat Generation<\/em>, dont le Ludovico admire le Grand Pr\u00eatre, William Burroughs, auteur du <em>Festin Nu <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinefast.com\/index.php?s=festin+nu&amp;submit=GO\">souvent cit\u00e9 ici<\/a>. Le h\u00e9ros du Ludovico \u00e9tait l\u2019ami de Gysin, et il b\u00e9n\u00e9ficia de sa plus grande invention, le <em>cut-up<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Une m\u00e9thode qui consiste \u00e0 d\u00e9couper des pages dans le journal du jour, une pi\u00e8ce de Shakespeare, ou les r\u00e9sultats du foot, et de les coller ensemble pour voir le r\u00e9sultat. Cela fascina Burroughs. Au \u00ab\u00a0<em>Beat Hotel<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb, h\u00f4tel miteux mais accueillant de la rue Git-Le-C\u0153ur, il termina ainsi son <em>Naked Lunch<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&rsquo;influence de cette anecdote est secr\u00e8te mais immense. De nombreuses chansons ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9crites avec cette technique, de Bowie \u00e0 Radiohead en passant par les Stones**. L\u2019expression <em>Heavy Metal<\/em> vient aussi de cette association d\u2019id\u00e9e, tout comme <em>Soft Machine<\/em>, qui donna le nom d\u2019un groupe. Mais surtout, cette lib\u00e9ration du langage (dont Burroughs pensait que l\u2019humanit\u00e9 \u00e9tait esclave***) allait porter des lib\u00e9rations bien plus grandes, celles de Mai 68. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour le cin\u00e9ma, l&rsquo;influence est moins claire. L\u2019art du cin\u00e9ma consiste d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e0 couper et coller des sc\u00e8nes qui ne se ressemblent pas. Le collage, qui vient aussi des Surr\u00e9alistes, Lettristes et autres Dada\u00efstes, a eu pour premi\u00e8re influence leurs h\u00e9ritiers\u00a0: les Situationnistes de Guy Debord, et notamment l&rsquo;adaptation cin\u00e9matographique de <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinefast.com\/?p=2609\">La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 du Spectacle<\/a><\/strong>. Dans le cin\u00e9ma plus \u00ab\u00a0commercial\u00a0\u00bb, d\u2019autres r\u00e9alisateurs s\u2019en sont empar\u00e9s, au moins ponctuellement\u00a0: Nicolas Roeg (<strong>Performance, L&rsquo;Homme qui Venait d&rsquo;Ailleurs<\/strong>), Antonioni (<strong>Zabriskie Point<\/strong>), et bien s\u00fbr Godard (<strong>Pierrot le Fou, \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinefast.com\/?p=1165\">One+One<\/a><\/strong>, son cut-upissime doc m\u00e9langeant enregistrement des Stones et Black Panthers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le <em>cut-up<\/em>, c&rsquo;est la m\u00e9taphore m\u00eame de la culture. Pas la culture avec un Grand A, mais bien la culture de chacun, qui fonctionne par association d\u2019id\u00e9es. On se prom\u00e8ne d\u2019influence en influence, de h\u00e9ros en h\u00e9ros. Le Ludovico a commenc\u00e9 avec Pink Floyd, Bowie et les Stones, trois chemins qui puisaient \u00e0 la m\u00eame source, William Seward Burroughs. Le lire menait \u00e0 d\u2019autres recommandations : Shakespeare et Paul Bowles, Hassan ibn al-Sabbah et les Ma\u00eetres Musiciens de Jajouka, et aussi&#8230; \u00e0 Brion Gysin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour payer ses dettes, Ludovico se rendit \u00e0 l\u2019expo. La boucle \u00e9tait boucl\u00e9e\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>*<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mam.paris.fr\/fr\/expositions\/exposition-brion-gysin\">Brion Gysin, Le dernier mus\u00e9e<\/a><\/em><a href=\"\"><\/a><br \/><em>**Moonage Daydream, Scary Monsters, Kid, Casino Boogie\u2026<\/em><br \/><em>*** \u00ab\u00a0&#8230;To travel in space, you must learn to leave the old verbal garbage behind.
